GEORGIA ELWISS REPORTS FROM AUSTRALIA
Gorgia Elwiss continued her trip to Australia after coming home for two weeks at christmas. Georgia, the Staffordshire Women captain is playing for Northern Districts in the strong Sydney first grade women competition and has this month made her state debut. We're about halfway through the club season out here and I've played more matches already than i did in last years season! Much better weather!
Shortly before Christmas I got called up to play in the WNCL (Womens National Cricket League) for the ACT Meteors which I was very excited about. I got to travel to Perth to play Western Australia. I made my debut with figures of 1-16 off 7 and we won the game so was a very happy time for me taking my first state wicket and also helpin to win the game. Since then I have played in Brisbane against Queensland where we were fortunate enough to play at the GABBA before the mens t20 match. It was a very close game but unfortunately we lost on the 2nd last ball! The next weekend the Meteors travelled to Melbourne and across the weekend we had two opportunities to play at the MCG! It was fantastic! On the friday night we were again scheduled to play before the mens t20 and by the end of the match we found ourselves playin infront of 10,000 people! Even better was the fact that we beat the eventual champions Victoria in their only t20 loss of the season! All state cricket has now finished with Victoria winning the t20 competition and New South Wales winning the 50 over format. So its back to club cricket for me and to try and get some runs and wickets under my belt for the coming season in England.
