Himley Cricket Club are delighted to announce they have secured the services of former Indian A team batsman and left arm spinner TP Singh as their overseas professional for the 2010 cricket season. TP is a level 2 coach and this season has averaged over 40 in Indian first class and one day cricket playing for Railways. He has been selected to play for Mumbai Indians with Sachin Tendulkar and Harbajan Singh in the exciting Indian Premier League 20/20 competition due to start in March. TP played for Himley in 2008 scoring 761 runs and taking 44 wickets in the Birmingham and District Premier Division leading to him winning the leagues most man of the match awards in the season. Everyone at Himley is delighted with his appointment and he will be available for junior coaching and private 1-1 coaching assisting in the further development of Himley's junior section which now boasts 21 boys and girls teams including 28 players playing representative cricket this season. The club is not resting on its laurels and is actively launching a recruitment drive for under 10 players for the forthcoming season. To aid this development the club will be embarking on some major projects on Saturday 27th March 2010 as part of the ECB Natwest cricket force day. The club are looking for volunteers and donations of building materials in order to erect a new score board on the junior ground, refurbish the netting complex and renovate the junior dressing rooms.
